The Four Lessons of Navajo Boy Guest Lecture

Speaker: Jeff Spitz, Associate Professor in Cinema and TV Arts, Columbia College Chicago

Join the CHE community and the Nelson Institute in welcoming Professor Jeff Spitz, who will present a special guest lecture to celebrate the upcoming 25th anniversary of his groundbreaking film, The Return of Navajo Boy. The lecture will explore the movie’s cultural impact and legacy, as well as how the project has evolved into a multi-media environmental justice campaign. It will also explore best practices for how to respectfully approach storytelling and collaboration across cultures to create meaningful advocacy.

There will also be informal social time from 10 to 11 a.m. and noon to 1 p.m. for students, faculty, and staff to chat with Professor Spitz about the film and his career, so even if you are unable to attend the lecture at 11 a.m., we encourage you to stop by! Refreshments will be provided.

The CHE Graduate Associate Organizing Committee will host a free film screening of The Return of Navajo Boy on October 22.
