CHE Place-Based Workshop: Rail and Trail Ecologies of Wisconsin
The railways of Wisconsin trace a path through the landscape and through time, from a past of colonialism and industrialization, through the passenger and freight loads of the present day, and, potentially, to a greener and faster future for transport in the state.
In this Place-Based Workshop, we will experience both the spatial and temporal dimensions of Wisconsin railroads, as we investigate histories of and along the tracks, experience travel on the trains of today, explore reincarnations of trackage as bike and recreation trails, and imagine the future of rail lines in the state, all the while bearing in mind the importance of the railroad as a nexus of human lives, diverse landscapes, and mineral resources.
Pre-registration closes on January 10. Secure your spot for this trip by pre-registering today.
