The seventh annual Workshop for the History of Environment, Agriculture, Technology, and Science (WHEATS) will be held October 8th through 10th, 2010 by the Center for Culture, History, and Environment (CHE) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. The call for papers is now closed, and our authors have been chosen. Participants may now access the papers [login required].
WHEATS brings together graduate students working on topics that touch on one or more of the workshop's core thematic areas of agriculture, the environment, science, and technology, to discuss their research in a focused and intimate setting with one another and with faculty and graduate students at the host university. Papers are precirculated, and the central task of the workshop is for all participants to give useful and constructive feedback on one another's work. We welcome submissions from students in a range of disciplines whose research engages at least one of these areas historically, including but not limited to history; history of science, medicine, or technology; STS; geography; anthropology; sociology; and others. For more detailed information about the workshop, visit the about page.
WHEATS will take place on the campus of the University of Wisconsin in Madison the weekend of October 8th through 10th. Attendees may familiarize themselves with the schedule of events and other information for participants.
